Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to review recent studies of learning strategy in Japan shortly and to examine the problem of motivation on the study of learning strategy. Motivation was the most critical matter on study of learning strategy. However, it was one of the factors related to learning strategy. There were other factors; for example, cognition of effectiveness and cost of learning strategy and learner's personality. I proposed that study of learning strategy should consider the diverse personal factors of learners.
